Christmas Food Baskets

A special thanks to Co-Chairperson's John Rogers and Kathy LaFave for another successful Christmas Food Basket Program.  This year, we were able to box up fresh and non-perishable food items for approximately forty families in the Milford area.  This is up from twenty-two families last year.  Our council is very grateful to Mr Scott MacGregor from Milford High School.  He is the director of student activities and supervised the collection and delivery of several dozen boxes of non-perishable food items. Thank-you Scott and all your students who help collect, deliver and sort the food items.  Without your help, we would not be able to help so many in need.  Also, proceeds from Christmas Tree Sales and donations from local grocery stores help fill the baskets.  John gives special thanks to Kathy for helping John make this a success and gives thanks to all the fellow Knights and their family members who donated their time and efforts to collect, sort, distribute the food baskets.  Please keep all these families in your prayers.

2008 Christmas Tree Sales Report
Larry Donnellon is proud to announce that our Council sold 97% of the Christmas Trees we purchased.  This relates to over $4500.00 that will be transferred to our Council's general charity fund. This is wonderful news in these uncertain economic times.  Larry gives thanks for all the Council Members who donated their time, charm, and muscle to selling the trees and the subsequent clean up.  Larry is also very grateful that students needing to fulfill their Community Service, alos contributed time and muscle.  As a reminder, trees are sold from the Milford Dairy Queen Parking Lot on Milford Road.  It is right across from Baker's Restaurant.  The trees are set up the day after Thanksgiving and sold immediately afterwards and continue until just a few days before Christmas or until we sell them all out.  Volunteers are needed to sell trees; especially on weekends.  Evening and weekend hours only.  Larry promises a little bit different layout next year.  Remember, Brother Knights, this is one of our largest fund raisers.  Please lend a few hours each week and make this a huge success.
